Kathmandu: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu marked the country's 80th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Chancery, where Ambassador Mohammad Aamir Khan unfurled the national flag in the presence of members of the Pakistani community, Nepali friends, and embassy officials with their families.

Messages from Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar highlighted the country's commitment to peace, regional stability, national development, and international cooperation while paying tribute to the sacrifices made during Pakistan's independence movement.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Khan said Pakistan remains committed to promoting peace and dialogue in the region and emphasized the country's constructive diplomatic role in easing tensions in West Asia. He also reiterated Pakistan's readiness to further strengthen diplomatic and economic relations with Nepal, describing the bilateral partnership as one rooted in centuries-old civilizational links, historic friendship, and shared values.
